Reimagining Film Conversations / Launch of Fever Dream Journal

16th of Feb 6 p.m.
Hackesche Höfe Kino

Join us for a session of reimagining film conversations.

All too often, the post-screening Q+A is a ritual with very predictable moves, haunted by promotional formulas and an exclusive, in-group attitude. Breaking away from this, we want to explore unorthodox methods for talking about films in the film festival context – in particular, those that challenge established formats by foregrounding typically unheard voices, or by playing with duration or speaking positions. The session brings together film critics and curators who are interested in new approaches to conversations about film, in order to discuss shared concerns and common passions. How can such conversations open up our engagement with cinema? How can they address and break down exclusion? And what kinds of conversations do we want to experience at festivals in the future?

The session is also the launch of Fever Dream Journal, a zine that documents an experimental film conversation that took place at the BaseCamp at the Locarno Film Festival in 2023.

The session is a collaboration between Woche der Kritik and Festival BaseCamp, an initiative by the Locarno Film Festival.

Guests: Jens Geiger-Kiran, Denise Bucher, Dana Linssen
Moderation: Rafael Dernbach
Free Admission.

After the talk, Alex Scholz (HOLO Magazine) and Jan Schmidt Bist (Running Water) will present the magazine.
