IRONY OR ANARCHY?

Tuesday, 20th February 2018 – 8PM

AIR TIME

D: VOLL:MILCH, Moritz Friese, Ariane Trümper, Nils Bultjer, GER 2017, 20 min., English OV

In an empty meeting room, two delegates passionately vie for attention and air time. Webcams, meanwhile, convey the posthumanistic picture of a world we have abandoned to become tourists.

SEARCHING FOR OSCAR (EN BUSCA DEL ÓSCAR)

D: Octavio Guerra, C: Oscar Peyrou, DOP: Víctor Montoya, ESP 2018, 75 min., Spanish OwEs – WP
A critic’s anarchic potential on the film festival circuit… Octavio Guerra traveled with Oscar Peyrou for months, completing, in meticulously composed shots, a portrait of the ageing Spanish critic (who doesn’t watch films) and a sketch of the idiosyncrasies of the film world.

After the screening

Debate: IRONY OR ANARCHY?

To seize the present reality of cinemas and festivals in order to shake it up, to look at it obliquely, to understand it better. What issues can cinematic irony convey, and what can anarchy achieve?

Guests: Giona Nazzaro (festival curator, Venice Critics’ Week), Alexandra Seibel (film critic, “Kurier”) and director Octavio Guerra

An evening in cooperation with the Ibero-American Institute.

Re-Run: Sunday, 25th February 2018 – 3:45pm
