BERLINALE 2020 - A Pub Debate
Regardless of whether the end of Dieter Kosslick’s term at the helm will be the beginning of a new era or whether everything will stay the same: the Berlinale has aroused a heated debate in Germany. Directors and critics are demanding a clean slate, letters are being exchanged, published, attacked and defended. Panel debates are taking place in public, while behind closed doors committees are discussing undisclosed concepts. Yet the fundamental questions remain unanswered: Can the Berlinale become a different festival than it is now? What would that entail? And would that be desirable?
Those are among the questions we want to raise, after the last films of the day, in our first ever pub debate. A conversation without boundaries and rules, far removed from the stubborn routines of representation. As if everything was possible.
Tuesday, February 20, 11 pm at Anna Koschke, Krausnickstraße 11, 10115 Berlin, S-Bahn Hackescher Markt / Oranienburger Straße.
